Buttoned-Up Shabbat Candlesticks

My eight-year old helped me with this project—now she’s anxious to use them on Friday night!

Materials:

• Unfinished wood candlesticks (available at craft stores)
• Paint
• Paintbrush
• Buttons with flat back (your choice, small works better)
• Glue that adheres plastic and wood (I recommend glue dots—easy to use and not messy)

Step 1: Get a pair of unfinished wood candlesticks

Step 2: Paint them (allow paint to dry before proceeding to next step)

Step 3: Glue buttons to candlesticks. I used glue dots—they come in a strip. You simply press the button onto the glue dot and when you lift the button up, the glue stays on the button. Then, when you press the button onto the candlestick, it stays—no mess!

Step 4: Continue until candlestick is complete—use your creativity—there are lots of fun buttons to choose from!
